What is the Black-Eyed Susan Book Award?
Maryland's Black-Eyed Susan Reading Program (BES) is a student choice award. The BES Award honors outstanding nominees in four categories: Picture Books, Grades 4-6, Grades 6-8, and High School. Students in the state of Maryland vote for the winning book in each category. Students actually pick the winners!
Participation
After completing the above steps, students will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the book they believe stands out the most. These votes will be collected from across the state and carefully tabulated by the Black-eyed Susan committee to determine the winners in each grade-level category.
And that's not all! In April, we'll be hosting a voting party complete with pizza and cake to celebrate our students' accomplishments.
This program promises an enriching literary journey for all participants, offering a diverse selection of outstanding books. Feel free to come by and check one out in person or on the Sora app.
